Highway Construction Apprenticeship
Readiness Course
By completing this Highway Construction Apprenticeship Readiness Course, you will have a basic understanding of the various construction Trades and their role in building the region’s highways and bridges. In addition, your information will be shared with over 200 highway construction employers in the region, and with the Union apprenticeship programs below.

Carpenters
The Carpenters Joint Apprenticeship & Training Program is a four year term Apprenticeship that consists of 144 hours of class work per year.

Cement Masons
The Cement Masons Apprentice Program is a three year program consisting of 3,000 hours on-the-job training and 144 hours of related instruction.

Laborers
The terms of the program are that each Apprentice completes 4,000 hours of on-the-job training and a minimum of 300 hours of related classroom instruction.

Operating Engineers
The Western PA Operating Engineers Joint Apprenticeship & Training Program is a four year on-the-job training program consisting of five to seven weeks each year of classroom and training site time.
